Ambassadors

Our ambassadors provide guidance to the organising team of Social Media Week Bristol. They identify trends, topical subjects, support with event curation, share their specialist skills and knowledge, open up their networks and amplify SMW Bristol news. All have wide and varied day jobs but have been chosen as ambassadors because their passion for social media spills over into other areas of their lives!

Christian Annesley

Christian Annesley

Business writer and speaker

Christian Annesley is a business writer and speaker who mixes events work and coverage with long-form journalism, commercial content campaigns and ghost-writing of books.

Enterprise technology is one focus for Christian. He was news editor of Computer Weekly from 2005 and 2007, when the title won a PPA award for its editorial campaigning. He also writes about ecommerce, corporate finance and all aspects of entrepreneurship and business -- for general as well as niche business audiences. He’s interviewed the likes of Tim Smit of The Eden Project and private equity veteran John Moulton, plus many other big business names across the South West region in particular, where he was the launch editor of South West Business Insider from 2008 to 2012.

Social media is a crucial tool for all businesses today, and Christian has explored its development through his writing over the past decade, and uses it extensively himself to reach the right people to turn out powerful, informed editorial and opinion. All his campaign and publishing work these days relies in part on social media to reach its target audiences.

Liam Williams

Liam Williams

Illustrator

Small town Welshman now residing in Bristol. Worked for some big corporates and found my way into Leadership. Inspired by The Do Lectures which taught me that visual learning was best; procrastination will get you nowhere; and that if it doesn’t scare you, don’t do it! I sketchnote. This means no more need for bullet pointed note taking, the sort that you will never read again. Visual representations are what I do best. I’ll often be seen sketching at events and sharing what I learn and experience. I love being creative, exploring new ways of doing things, reading as much as possible and running off any cobwebs.
