Social Media Week Bristol is excited to have True Digital involved as an agency sponsor this year. We sat down to chat with Chris Redhead, Media Manager about their event as well as why Bristol is such a great city to host.
Hi Chris! Thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a bit more about what you do at True Digital.
At True Digital, we help people profit from the limitless possibilities of digital by making brand building experiences and results driven marketing for ambitious clients.
Day to day I manage digital campaigns for a variety of businesses in sectors from home furnishings to utilities. We work closely with our clients to align our campaigns with their business objectives, enabling us to deliver exceptional results across a range of different channels.
This year’s theme is ‘STORIES: With influence comes great responsibility’ – how do you think brands have changed the way they tell stories and how do you see this evolving?
Today’s brands have more platforms and opportunities than ever to tell their stories, but despite this we still see many struggling to bridge the gap between the stories they want to tell about themselves, and the ways in which they are actually perceived by their target audiences.
It’s a challenge we decided to tackle head-on in our talk at SMW this year. The proliferation of platforms is only going to continue, but in order for brands to pick the right ones and get the most value from them, it’s vital to have a clear, consistent message in mind which will cut through with those important audiences.
Social Media Week Bristol is the only SMW in the UK outside of London. Why do you think Bristol has become such a hub for creative talent?
Because Bristol is best. Fact. It’s a city that is teaming with digital, creative, marketing and technology businesses providing a hotbed of social talent. The environment and infrastructure cater perfectly to this kind of event. Bristol is big enough to host global events but small enough to foster a tightly knit digital community that is open, collaborative and fun.
We definitely agree. For first time Social Media Week delegates, how do you recommend getting the best out of the week?
Attend a blend of events, choosing ones that will help you directly in your day-to-day and ones that will inspire you to think outside of the box or educate you on something completely new.
Take enough notes to be able to present the highlights back to your team, your colleagues or your family and friends. There’s no better way to absorb information than having to present it back to others.
Those are some great tips! Tell us about your event at Social Media Week, what are delegates going to take away from attending your session?
True’s presentation will focus on Strategy. It’s about knowing who you are and what makes your audience tick. True Creative, Strategy and Media leads will help you unleash your social power, sharing:
- Practical techniques to define what your brand stands for
- Quick and easy ways to gain meaningful audience insight
- A social media playbook to help you cut through the noise
You’ll come away with tried, tested and trusted skills to put into action right away.
Social Media Week Bristol takes place between 10-14 June.
